What if I don't have a CDE License?

CCSD requires an active Teacher License, Special Services Provider License, or 5 year Substitute Authorization issued by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE).  Before submitting a substitute application, please have a copy of your valid CDE license/authorization to upload.  Your application will be rejected if missing.

Please do not upload a CDE receipt of application.

Please visit the CDE website if you have any questions.

What licenses are accepted for substituting?

CCSD accepts a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching, special service provider, and substitute authorization license.

The following CDE license types are accepted:

• Professional Teacher or SSP
• Initial (Provisional) Teacher or SSP
• Interim Teacher
• 5 Year Substitute Authorization

Do I have to be fingerprinted by CCSD and CDE?

Yes. We understand that you may have been fingerprinted with other state agencies/districts or organizations; however, the results of the fingerprints are not allowed to be shared between organizations due to the confidentiality of the background information. For this reason, fingerprinting with CCSD is required. Further, if you are a previous employee of CCSD and have been separated for more than 90 days, you will need to be fingerprinted again.
