CCSD Athletics: Highlights from the week of April 14, 2025

5A Boys Volleyball - EHS at OHS

5A Boys Volleyball: Teams gear up for postseason

District boys volleyball teams are wrapping up their regular season play. The Centennial League tournament will be held April 22, 24 and 26. The 2025 5A State Volleyball Tournament begins May 8 at Trojan Arena on the campus of Fountain-Fort Carson High School.

Eaglecrest leads the CCSD pack after winning twice last week to improve to 17-2 on the season. The Raptors are 6-1 in Centennial League play, losing only to first-place Littleton Public Schools. EHS will begin the Centennial Tourney on Tuesday evening when they host Cherry Creek at the Nest for a 6:30 p.m. first round match. The Raptors will play one final regular season game after the league tourney against Mountain Vista on April 28.

Grandview was 1-1 for the week, and is 15-4 (5-2) going into Centennial Tournament play. The Wolves will host Overland in first-round action at 6:30 p.m. on April 22.

Cherokee Trail (8-12 overall, 3-4 in the league) was 2-0 last week. The Cougars will be on the road for a first-round match against Valor Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Overland was 4-2 last week improving to 14-6 on the season. The Blazers are 2-5 in league play going into the Centennial Tourney on April 22. OHS will be at Grandview for its first-round match with the Wolves. Game-time is 6:30 p.m.

Cherry Creek (10-10, 2-5) was 3-2 this past week. The Bruins will start Centennial Tournament play on the road at Eaglecrest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

5A Girls Tennis - CTHS at CCHS

5A Girls Tennis: Team State Championship brackets released

The 2025 5A Girls State Team Tennis championship bracket was released by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) on April 21. Cherry Creek comes in as the No. 2 seed in the 16-team, single elimination tourney. Higher-seeded teams will host in first round, quarterfinal and semifinal matches. Finals will be played at the Denver Tennis Park on Tuesday, May 13.

College Commitment Day

Senior student athletes across the Cherry Creek School District signed commitments to play college sports as coaches, friends, and family cheered during signing ceremonies held on April 16 at Cherry Creek, Eaglecrest, Grandview, and Smoky Hill high schools.

Commitment Day is a new term being used, as the NCAA officially did away with the National Letter of Intent signing process back in October of 2024.
