5A Boys Volleyball - CCHS at OHS

5A Boys Volleyball: CCSD teams battle within Centennial League

District boys volleyball clubs are in the middle of conference play leading up to regionals and state early next month. Overland and Eaglecrest are having good seasons so far within the competitive Centennial League.

Overland is 10-2 (1-1 in conference play) after going 1-1 last week, getting a big 3-2 home win over Cherry Creek on April 1, then falling at Valor Christian last Thursday. The Blazers next host Eaglecrest on April 8. The Raptors (9-2, 2-1) also went 1-1 last week, falling in a tough, 5-set match to league-leading Littleton Public Schools on the road last Tuesday. EHS came back to shut out Cherokee Trail 3-0 on April 3. The Raptors are at Overland on Tuesday. Grandview improved to 8-3 (2-1) last week. The Wolves got road wins at Rampart and Mullen, and fell to Littleton at home last Thursday. Up next, GHS visits Cherry Creek on Tuesday evening. The Bruins (6-7, 1-2) went 1-1 this past week, falling at Overland and defeating Mullen at home on April 3. Next, Creek hosts Grandview on Tuesday. Cherokee Trail (5-10 overall, 0-2 in the Centennial) was 0-2 for the week. The Cougars are at Mullen on Tuesday.

5A Girls Soccer - Regis at CCHS

5A Girls Soccer: Cherry Creek leads the way

The Cherry Creek High School girls soccer team has played very well entering the second half of the regular season. The Bruins sport an undefeated 6-0-1 record after a Centennial League victory over Smoky Hill on April 1. Next, Creek faces Eaglecrest on April 8.

Grandview improved to 2-3-1 with their first two wins of the season last week. The Wolves defeated Eaglecrest in conference play on April 1, then beat Air Academy on Wednesday. Up next, GHS hosts Mullen on Tuesday evening. The Eaglecrest Raptors fell to 2-4-1 on the season with the Grandview loss last week. EHS will travel to Cherry Creek for a match on April 8. Smoky Hill (3-5, 0-0) was idle last week, and will host Cherokee Trail on Tuesday evening. The Cougars (2-4, 1-1) were also winless last week, and will play the Buffs on April 8. Overland (2-4, 1-1 in the 4A/5A Colorado League) was 0-1 last week, falling to Gateway. The Blazers will try and bounce back when they host Skyview on Tuesday evening.

5A Track and Field: Weather adjusts schedules

District Track and Field squads had meets postponed this past weekend because of cold and snowy weather.

The rescheduled Legend Titan Track Clash will take place on Monday, April 7. Cherokee Trail, Cherry Creek, Grandview, and Smoky Hill are scheduled to participate. Eaglecrest will be part of the rescheduled Broomfield Bash hosted by the Eagles, also on Monday. Overland was part of the Mullen High School Invitational, which was also postponed, and makeup information was not available as of this writing.

5A Ice Hockey: All-State teams announced

Congratulations to Cherry Creek junior Carter Sharkey who was named to the All-State Hockey First Team last Thursday. Sharkey was part of the state semifinalist Bruins who fell to Poudre School District 4-3 in double overtime, back on March 1.
