A Voice for Change | Subira Abuaba Senate Youth Program
Making the world a better place starts with big dreams and bold opportunities. Cherokee Trail High School student Subira Abuaba was one of just two students in Colorado selected to represent the state in Washington, D.C. through the Senate Youth Program. With a passion for advocacy and a goal of becoming a human rights lawyer, Subira is already taking steps toward creating meaningful change.
A Future Educator in the Making | Trey Greenwood
Smoky Hill senior Trey Greenwood is turning encouragement into action. With support from teachers and a counselor who recognized his potential, Trey took his first steps toward a career in education through the district's Future Educators Program.
Inspired by the confidence others had in him—and his own ability to connect with younger students—Trey is continuing his journey in the Call Me MISTER program at MSU Denver. Call Me MiSTER is a teacher leadership program that addresses the crucial need for greater diversity in Colorado’s classrooms by leading in the recruitment, training, and placement of African American male teachers. His goal: to become an educator and one day a principal or even a superintendent.
Driven by “Sonder”: Baileigh Gray’s Passion for Storytelling
Overland High School senior Baileigh Gray is turning her passion for storytelling into a future in broadcast journalism. As part of the school’s broadcast journalism class, Baileigh is dedicated to sharing the unique stories of others—something she describes with the word “sonder,” the realization that everyone has a story worth telling.
With plans to continue her journey after graduation, Baileigh is just getting started in bringing those stories to life.
Turning Passion Into Code: Cherokee Trail's Masha Kiparuk
In high school, Masha Kiparuk, a student at Cherokee Trail is already turning her passion into real-world skills. She designed and coded her own video game and even earned her drone pilot license and certification.
Through creativity, problem-solving, and determination, she’s building the skills she’ll need to pursue her dream of becoming a video game developer after graduation.
A Mind for Science, A Heart for Others | Amy Xia
Cherry Creek High School senior Amy Xia has turned her passion for molecular biology into a purpose. Inspired by dedicated teachers and shaped by personal and real-world experiences, she hopes to study degenerative diseases in the future. Beyond the classroom, Amy is making a difference now, founding Sunshine for Seniors, a club that spreads joy to residents in local senior living communities through handwritten cards.
Redefining the Climb | Rosario Cornell
After a knee injury, Grandview High School senior Rosario Cornell found a new way to stay connected to the sport she loves—joining the paraclimbing community as a caller and sight guide. Now, she’s setting her sights on a future in biomedical and mechanical engineering, with a goal of designing bionic limbs that help others keep doing what they love. An artist at heart, Rosario hopes to blend creativity and engineering to make a lasting impact.
