School is in session for Grades K-5 from 8:00 AM until 2:45 PM
The school office operates between the hours of 7:15 AM and 4:00 PM

Giving Notice for a Classroom Visit

Parents are encouraged to visit their children’s classrooms or any of the district’s other instructional facilities. This is one of the best ways to be informed about what is going on at school. As a matter of courtesy, it is requested that parents call the school at least one day ahead of the time of their intend?ed visitation. For the safety of our children, visitors MUST check in at the office before visiting a classroom. Younger children are discouraged from visiting classrooms with their parents, but certainly may join their brothers or sisters during lunch with a parent. Parents are welcome to come and eat lunch with their child.

  • Attendance

    Absences Including Vacation

A child can never make up a day missed at school even though some assignments may be completed at a later date. The interaction and instruction that take place in the class room are equally as valuable as written assignments. Students should only be absent from school in the case of illness, unusual family difficulties, or emergencies.

Please call the attendance line at 720-886-6495 by 7:30 a.m. to report when your child will be absent or late.

If the child is absent and no call has been received from a parent, the school will call the home to check on the child. Even if the school day has started, please call the attendance line. The attendance line is available 24 hours a day.?

    Late Arrival/Early Dismissal from School

Students who arrive after 8:00 a.m. MUST sign in at the main office. As a general policy, children are dismissed from school during school hours only in cases of emergency. In such situations, a note should be sent to the child's teacher on that day and the parent MUST come to the main office to sign the child out of school.?

What do I do if my student is absent or tardy?

To report your student absent or tardy, please call our attendance line at 720-886-6495.

What do I do if I need to take my child home from school early?

First, we ask that all parents check in at the office and sign out their children.  The office staff will contact the classroom teacher and have him/her sent down to the office.  This will give your child and teacher time to gather his/her backpack and homework. Please do not go to the classroom to pick up your child.

What if my plans change during the day and I want my child to wait to be picked up or ride the bus home?

If plans change for you, please call the main office and we will get a note to your child.  If you know ahead of time, please send a note to notify the office and teacher of the change in plans. Because the office is very busy at the end of the day, we ask that you call with any changes no later than 2:00 pm.

Can my child bring electronics/toys to school?

We highly discourage any electronics or toys being brought to school. Any items brought to school must remain in their backpacks while on school grounds. The school will not be held responsible for lost items. Any electronics used inappropriately will be confiscated and will be released to a parent/guardian only.

What if my child needs to bring a cell phone?

Similar to electronics, cell phones need to be turned off and left in backpacks while on school grounds. We have phones at school for student use during the school day. We also have walkie-talkies used on the playground for office communication. Any cell phone used inappropriately will be confiscated and released to parent/guardian only.

What happens to lost & found items?

All items found in the gym, on the playground, in the lunchroom, or left in the classroom are placed in the lost and found located near the cafeteria. Students need to continuously check for items that may be theirs. Marking your child's coat, etc. with his/her name will make it easier to find lost items. Items that are not claimed will be donated to charity several times throughout the year.

Can I meet my child outside his/her classroom?

No, we ask that you meet your child near the front office or in the designated areas outside of the building. Please do not take students from the playground without notifying the office.

Can my child ride his/her bike/scooter to school?

Yes, however, our policy is "No Wheels on School Grounds". If your child rides his/her bike or scooter, we ask that they walk them while on school grounds. Bikes/scooters must be parked at the bike racks. Scooters will not be permitted to be stored in the building.

Can my child bring roller blades or roller shoes to school?

No, due to limited storage and damage to school property we ask that no roller blades or roller shoes be worn to school.

What happens if my child gets sick at school?

Students who are feeling ill are sent to the office for a temperature check and/or to rest. If we determine the child is too ill to remain in class, the parents will be notified. For this reason, it is critical current emergency information and numbers are kept up to date on your child's enrollment form.  PLEASE do not send your child to school if he/she has already gotten sick before school begins.

Can my child take medication at school?

ANY medication that must be taken at school, prescription or over-the-counter, must be kept in its original container and locked in the health room medicine cabinet. A medical release form with the doctor's and parent's signature must be on file. Both of these requirements are State laws. Children's acetaminophen will be provided to your child if necessary, only if the parent's authorization is on file. Students are not allowed to carry medication with them at any time at school, on the bus, in lunch boxes, or in the classroom.

How do I drop off and pick up my child?

When picking up or dropping of your children please remember to stay in your vehicle and move forward with traffic. Staff will be out to guide the flow of cars through the parking lot. If you wish to walk your child to their door please park in designated areas. We also ask you to reinforce good safety procedures by using the crosswalks. Please do not drop children off in the bus lanes or in no parking areas.

May I bring an item my student has forgotten?

While we stress the importance of students being responsible, sometimes the need arises when items need to be brought in during the school day. Rather than disrupt the classroom with a delivery, parents should leave these items in the office and the student will be called to pick them up.
