Activities & Clubs

  • Numerous enrichment and acceleration programming options are available at CHVE. Some of these options are available to any student who has an interest, and some are available according to teacher discretion and student needs.

  • Ability Grouping/Subject Acceleration

    Ability grouping and subject acceleration are used at most grade levels in math and in many grade levels in other subjects. Groups are flexible, allowing students to move from one group to another at the teacher's discretion.

  • Academic Pullout

    Students are pulled out of class for small group academic instructions for both remediation and enrichment.

  • Accelerated Reader

    Students elect to read a particular book and take a test on the computer.

  • Ameritown

    CHVE 5th grade students learn how to manage money and run a business within a town setting. This training culminates with a trip to Ameritown at the Young Americans Bank.

  • Art Classes

    After school art classes are offered by our CHVE art teacher. These fee based classes include: ceramics, knitting, furniture painting, and Paper Mache.

  • C.L.A.W. (Clean Air, Land & Water) Club

    Open to all students, this program teaches students environmental awareness through projects and field trips.

  • Camp Cheley

    All of our 5th graders will have the opportunity to attend Camp Cheley near Estes Park for a three and two night Outdoor Education experience.

    The dates for the 2019-2020 school year September 4-6.

  • Chess Classes

    Chess play and instruction are offered for all interested students.

  • Choir

    Choir is available before school for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Handbell choir is offered to 5th graders.

  • DI (Destination Imagination)

    This is a creative team problem-solving experience that ends in a fun competition. Students are coached before and after school.

  • Differentiated Math Groups

    Every grade level has an additional math instructor to enable CHVE to have smaller, differentiated math classes.

  • Foreign Language Classes

    Spanish and French are available.

  • Guest Speakers

    Through guest speakers, students are exposed to new fields and are given an opportunity to learn more about established areas of interest.

  • Intramural Sports Program

    Students are welcome to attend an intramural program. Students play a variety of sports including: hockey, softball, soccer, volleyball and football.

  • Junior Great Books

    Trained parent volunteers moderate book discussions for students in grades 1-5, before school or during lunch.
