Letter Regarding Level Changes/Drops
Dear Student and Parents/Guardians:
Hopefully, you have had the opportunity to follow your academic progress by checking Powerschool grades. As we get halfway through the first quarter of school, it is a good time to assess your progress and consider ways to improve grades, if needed, before the end of the semester.
If you have been working with your teachers and are still finding your classes to be difficult, please be aware of the following options that are available and have deadlines coming soon:
- Consider a level change, if available for your course. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the content or pace of a course and a less difficult one may be available and more appropriate, you will need to communicate with the coordinator of the department to explore the possibility of a level change. Department coordinators initiate the level change form (see attachment for coordinators’ contact information). Deadline: September 24, 2021
- Consider dropping the class if it is an elective class and can be taken at another time. All 9th and 10th graders are required to have a minimum of 6 classes each semester, and 11th and 12th graders are required to have a minimum of 5 classes each semester, so you may need to add a teacher or office assist class in which you can earn .5 elective credit for the remainder of the semester. See your counselor or an on call counselor per 4, 5 or 6 if you need the paperwork for this option. Deadline: November 5, 2021.
