Cherry Creek School District (CCSD) believes that the performing arts are an essential part of educating the whole child. CCSD strives to provide diverse opportunities for every student to express themselves through music, theater, and dance. The Cherry Creek School District believes that an education that includes the performing arts develops discipline, problem-solving skills, confidence, and quality of character. It is our belief that participation in the performing arts helps students to know themselves, their peers, and their communities through the commonality of the human condition that is expressed through music, dance, and theater. CCSD is invested in continuous program evaluation and improvement through collaborative problem solving and ongoing professional development through our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
Cherry Creek Schools is proud of the role performing arts plays in the lives of our students. District wide, over 22,000 students participate in one or more of the diverse offerings in our district including: jazz, concert, and marching band, orchestra, choir, general music, dance, theater, hand bells, percussion ensemble, music appreciation, and guitar classes.
The depth of knowledge that our artist/educators bring to the performing arts program is a result of a passion for continuing growth. Many of our educators are active performers who continue to hone their craft as artists on the local and national level. Our educators also demonstrate their commitment to continued professional growth; over 64% of our performing arts teachers have advanced degrees, and many have earned additional certifications in their respective fields.
