What's Happening at Independence...

  • New Family Welcome

    ​NEW to Independence? Please join us Thursday August 8th from 3:00-3:30 to see our school and ask any questions that you may have. Stay after for teacher meet & greet and popsicle social from 3:30-4:30pm.

    ​​​​​August 12th will be the first day of school for 1st- 5th. Kindergarten starts on Aug. 14th.

    ​Kindergarten Screenings will be August 12th & 13th. Look for an email sign up for a time the end of July.

  • Physical Education Intramurals

    Intramurals for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade boys and girls will be held after school and are offered to supplement the Physical Education program. Participation is optional and FREE. Intramurals will begin the week of September 23, 2019.

  • Peer Teacher Program

    We are looking for responsible, caring, and hard-working 5th graders who want to be challenged to do more as part of our Peer Teacher Program. This program provides students with the opportunity to be responsible citizens and positive role models. Students who are chosen for this unique and challenging program, volunteer at least two lunch recess times each week to help teachers and students in KG-4th grade classrooms.

  • Vaping Prevention Information Night

    Parents and middle and high school students are invited to hear from experts about the health effects of vaping from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, at Smoky Hill High School. Get more information here.


    CCSD RoboCon is coming!

    RoboCon, a Cherry Creek Robotics Competition, is coming to West Middle School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 29! More than 80 elementary and middle school robotics teams will compete! Get more information here.


    2nd Annual HBCU/HSI/TSI College Fair

    Attention high school students and parents: Meet with representatives from Historically Black Colleges, Hispanic Serving Institutions and Tribal Serving Institutions and learn about admissions requirements and scholarship opportunities.  6:30-8:30 p.m., Tues., March 3, Overland High School.
