Students in the Cherry Creek Leadership Academy met this month to build community, share in powerful experiences, and continue working through their social contract at their quarterly meeting. Students shared their thoughts on the program and how it has impacted them.

At Horizon Community Middle School, equity is the foundation of meaningful student engagement and transformative conversations. For the past few years, the school has been building a culture where students don’t just learn about equity—they help lead the work.

The Smoky Hill High School Unified Athletics program was honored as the 2025 Chaka Sutton Unified School of the Year for Colorado and will be inducted into the Special Olympics Colorado Hall of Fame during a ceremony later this fall.

Cherry Creek’s Before & After School programs are buzzing with excitement thanks to new STEM materials funded by a Colorado Early Childhood Stimulus Grant. Staff members are thrilled to see the kids problem-solve together, create with endless possibilities, and explore new learning pathways.

Author Kentrell Martin visited Heritage Elementary, captivating students with his book Shelly Goes to the Zoo. Through interactive storytelling, students learned some American Sign Language (ASL) and practiced conversing with one another. Martin’s visit highlighted the importance of cultural representation and inclusivity, fostering an appreciation for diverse abilities and identities.
