On December 9, 2024, the Board of Education approved the recommended boundary change. 

The boundary change will move the Canyon Creek attendance area to Eaglecrest High School. This change will be effective starting in the 2025-2026 school year for all incoming 9^th graders.  This change will not impact current students attending Cherokee Trail. Here are additional implementation details:

1. Current students that reside in the Canyon Creek area in grades 6-8 will be provided guaranteed School Choice to Cherokee Trail.  Families will need to submit a School Choice application anytime between December 1 and January 31 to notify the district of their intentions.
2. Younger siblings of current Cherokee Trail students who will have concurrent enrollment in high school with their older sibling(s) will be provided guaranteed School Choice to Cherokee Trail. Families will need to submit a School Choice application anytime between December 1 and January 31 to notify the district of their intentions.
3. Continued bus service for the Canyon Creek to Cherokee Trail through the 2027-2028 school year (until all current CT students have completed high school).
4. Guaranteed School Choice to Eaglecrest for current 9^th-11^th grade students from the Canyon Creek area.  Families will need to submit a School Choice application anytime between December 1 and January 31 to notify the district of their intentions.
5. New permanent bus service for parts of the Canyon Creek area that are outside to the walk distance to EHS.

Current 8^th grade students can also expect to receive communication from either school pertaining to next school year.  Eaglecrest will be visiting middle schools between January 22^nd and January 29^th, 2025 and Cherokee Trail will be visiting middle schools between February 20^th and March 3^rd, 2025.  Counselors will go to the middle schools at a designated time to meet with students and provide registration materials. Families are encouraged to reach out to the school directly for any additional information or to request a tour.  Here are the contacts for each school:

On March 11, 2024, the Board of Education approved the following overflow boundary change. 

Scenario A: An overflow boundary change from Altitude Elementary to Woodland Elementary for students residing in Southshore at Aurora Filing No. 19 and the southern portion of Southshore at Aurora Filing No. 17.

Due to overcrowding at Altitude Elementary School and under-enrollment at Woodland Elementary School, overflow boundary adjustments for these schools are needed to balance projected enrollments and to accommodate future growth in the Southshore community. 

The overflow boundary change process underwent an extensive community engagement process. The District’s Long-Range Facility Planning Committee first identified three scenarios with the goal of alleviating overcrowding pressures, balancing enrollment, ensuring student safety, and maintaining efficient use of district facilities. These three options were presented to the community during two open house meetings on February 5th and 6th and via an online survey. More than 200 people attended the community meetings and more than 600 survey responses were received. Community feedback indicated a strong preference for Scenarios A and C. All feedback was shared with the District Leadership Team and the Board of Education. Ultimately, Scenario A was chosen because it significantly minimized the number of current students impacted (data below) and is one of the areas located closest to Woodland.

The new boundaries will be implemented in the 2024-2025 school year. This boundary change will have no impact on middle or high school school assignment.  Please follow this link to search next year’s school boundaries by address.
