From the framing to the HVAC to the drywall, it takes many different kinds of skilled workers to make a new building habitable! The Infrastructure Engineering pathway gives students a chance to explore several careers in building trades. With opportunities to operate cranes and/or forklifts, pour concrete, and framing buildings, students will get a chance to work with their hands and experience “on the job” training to build structures.

Construction I
Safety, construction math, hand and power tools, blueprints/drafting, electrical wiring, masonry, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, drywall, foundations, footings, floors, roofing, stairs, windows, doors, and employability
Grades: 10-12
Prerequisites: Algebra 1
Length: 1 Year
Credits: 2 Credits (1 CTE / 1 Math A)
Certifications: OSHA-10 Construction, Home Builders Institute Pre-Apprenticeship, National Center for Construction Education and Research

Construction II
Students will gain more complex practical experience with carpentry, electrical and plumbing. Working in conjunction with the Associated General Contractors of Denver, students focus on various skills in preparation for entry into trades apprenticeships. Students will be introduced to all facets of residential and commercial wiring, installation of fixtures, plumbing and finish work. Carpentry in Construction II will include a more comprehensive understanding of framing, drywall, exterior siding, roofing, insulation, windows, doors, trim and cabinet installation.
Grades: 11-12
Prerequisites: Algebra I, Construction I
Length: 1 Year
Credit: 2 Credits (1.0 CTE / 1.0 Math A)
