Infrastructure Engineering

  • Infrastructure Engineering From the framing to the HVAC to the drywall, it takes many different kinds of skilled workers to make a new building habitable! The Infrastructure Engineering pathway gives students a chance to explore several careers in building trades. With opportunities to operate cranes and/or forklifts, pour concrete, and framing buildings, students will get a chance to work with their hands and experience “on the job” training to build structures.

  • Construction I

    Safety, construction math, hand and power tools, blueprints/drafting, electrical wiring, masonry, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, drywall, foundations, footings, floors, roofing, stairs, windows, doors, and employability

    Grades: 10-12

    Prerequisites: Algebra 1

    Length: 1 Year 

    Credits: 2 Credits (1 CTE / 1 Math A)

    Certifications: OSHA-10 Construction, HBI PACT (Pre Apprenticeship Certificate Training), NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research)

  • Construction II

    Students will have more complicated practical experience with Carpentry, Electrical and Plumbing. Working in conjunction with the Associated General Contractors of Denver, students focus on various specifics of modular home building. The home’s plumbing will include wastewater, domestic supply and fixture installation while the electrical aspects will focus on all facets of residential wiring, including rough wiring, installation of electrical fixtures and finish wiring. Carpentry for this year will include a more comprehensive understanding of framing, drywall, exterior siding, roofing, insulation, windows, doors, trim and cabinet installation.

    Grades: 11-12

    Prerequisites: Algebra I, Construction I

    Length: 1 Year

    Credit: 2 Credits (1.0 CTE / 1.0 Math A)

    Certifications: National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing Home Builders Institute Pre Apprenticeship Construction Training (PACT) Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing

  • Construction III - Future Course

    Intern or apprentice in a building trade of choice. Supervise Construction I and/or Construction II students.

    Grades: 11-12

    Prerequisites: Construction I & II
