Hello Mountain Vista Families,

Welcome to the home of the Mammoths!  My name is Megan Carkhuff, and I am absolutely honored to serve as the Principal of Mountain Vista Elementary.  I believe that all students can achieve at high levels when provided high quality instruction and when supported in partnership by the community around them.  I am proud to be part of your child’s educational journey.

As the Principal of Mountain Vista, I have been able to witness first-hand the joy and excitement of our young learners, the love and compassion of our families, and the expertise and strength of the Mountain Vista staff.  I am humbled to lead in this community with such a knowledgeable and hardworking group of educators who always put students first.  Mountain Vista is truly a special place that has built a legacy of excellence for all.

On a personal note, I live in Aurora with my husband, Sam, and our two sons, Lyle and Boyce.  I am originally from Michigan (Go Green!) and taught 2nd and 4th grade for eight years prior to joining the administration team in Cherry Creek in 2017.  As a family, we enjoy camping in the mountains on weekends and spending time at local parks.  It’s very likely you’ll catch us on the playground here at Mountain Vista after hours!

Together, with our amazing staff, I want to welcome each of you to the Mountain Vista family.  I promise that we will do right by our children.  We will collaborate with each other and with you to best meet the needs of our students and community.  We will inspire our young Mammoths to DREAM, BELIEVE, ACHIEVE!
