High Plains Music Program
All students at High Plains take part in music classes. Lessons are based on the Colorado State Music Standards for kindergarten through fifth grade.
Students learn about the basic elements of music and how to apply those elements.
Students of all grade levels learn how to read and write music, perform as a group, sing, music history, music technology, and important musical composers.
Students also learn to play instruments. Younger students play percussion instruments (drums, xylophones, boomwhackers, etc.) while older students learn to play ukuleles and can-joes. This is an excellent way to incorporate all of our music standards and have a whole lot of fun!
Extra-Curricular Music Classes
A current list of extracurricular music classes is available on the “Activities & Clubs” section of the High Plains website.
