S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
In STEM we focus on 4 main areas: programming, Engineering/Circuits, Manufacturing as well as Space/Science astronomy. Each grade level gets to experience units within each area.
We always start the year with Digital Citizenship. This teaches students the importance of being safe, respectful and responsible online and with all technology. Then we move into Scratch programming. This is the basis for many other projects throughout the year.
After that, the projects move between a variety of programs such as Lego robotics, cubelets, KNEX, Sketch-up, Makey Makey, and Google Earth, as well as engineering projects where the students plan, design and build skyscrapers, dinosaurs, sailboats and many other hands-on activities.
The main focus of STEM outside of the areas above is working in groups, sharing supplies, taking turns and participating in everything.
