Compostable lunch trays across CCSD help push toward sustainability
Cherry Creek Schools is now using compostable lunch trays in lieu of polystyrene (aka Styrofoam) trays. These new trays are less hazardous to the environment, and will serve students eating approximately 18,000 lunches and 4,500 breakfasts a day.

Girls flag football: an instant sensation
The Cherry Creek School District recently hosted more than 500 student athletes for one of the first-ever girls flag football jamborees. The event featured more than 20 teams from high schools in the Cherry Creek School District, Denver Public Schools and Jefferson County Public Schools, in a pilot program sponsored by the Denver Broncos Charities.

Alumni in Action: Adrian Miller
Since graduating from Smoky Hill High School in 1987, Adrian Miller has been a lawyer, a public policy advisor, and a historian. One of his biggest successes has been as an internationally renowned culinary scholar and author. For nearly a decade, Miller has written and lectured on the culinary traditions and legacies of African Americans across the United States.

Arapahoe sheriff swears in new therapy dog for CCSD
CCSD Superintendent Christopher Smith and Arapahoe County Sheriff Tyler Brown joined officials to formally swear in Riley, a black Labrador puppy, as the district's first official therapy dog during a ceremony on Sept. 11.
