Four heroes receive puppies thanks to West MS students
It’s been a tradition at West Middle School for seven years to help raise funds for puppies to give to veterans. The puppy is provided to help veterans come back to the life they lost due to trauma while serving our country and communities. The partnership with Hero’s Puppy for Life has blossomed over the years.

Cherry Creek School District achieves highest-ever graduation rate
For the second consecutive year, the Cherry Creek School District achieved its highest-ever graduation rate. The on-time (or four-year) graduation rate for the class of 2022 is 90.9%, up from 90.7% for the class of 2021.

Summer Leadership Academy students reflect on lessons
This past summer, students from across the district came together to experience the first Summer Leadership Academy (SLA), a program designed to empower students with skills like conflict resolution, communication, collaboration and more. This program, funded by the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation, also includes a class-based component this semester. Two students from the program, Issa Zavala and Jay Dreger, shared some of what they learned from this valuable experience.

First graders at Homestead Elementary recently made a cookbook to learn about community in their social studies class. Social studies assignments like creating a community cookbook allow students to learn and practice skills such as reading and writing, collaboration, understanding similarities and differences, and considering traditions and culture.

Smoky Hill HS students find lunchtime connections, life skills in Zen Den
Thanks to a wellness grant from the district, the mental health team at Smoky Hill was able to decorate a room in the school to make it more calming and inviting for students and developed several opportunities for students to grow through lunchtime mental health programs.

CCSD Middle School Honor Choir makes musical magic
More than 160 of the district's best seventh- and eighth-grade vocalists performed in the CCSD Middle School Honor Choir Concert. “The people here are amazing,” eighth-grader Flynn Latta said. “They’re all ‘music-heads’ and they just love music and love the atmosphere and we kind of bond over that.”
