On March 8, Grandview High School held a pep rally for its annual “Miracle Week.” The energy that GHS students cultivated in support of five children with the rare disease SLC6A1 was nothing short of miraculous.

Students learn more than just robotics at RoboCon
The Falcon Creek Middle School gym was filled with cheers and excitement during the third annual Cherry Creek Schools’ RoboCon on March 11. During the all-day event, 26 schools were represented with 115 teams competing.

Destination Imagination regional tournament builds confidence, teamwork
Twenty-two teams from a dozen schools participated in the Cherry Creek School District’s annual Destination Imagination regional tournament, held on March 11 at Grandview High School. Each team selected a challenge and worked together to develop a solution, then presented their challenge to the judges. This year, every challenge had a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) element and a technical piece to it.

Elyana Belfon is 12 years old and a sixth grader at Thunder Ridge Middle School. She's also a published author and the winner of a national essay contest about personal financial literacy.

For the second year in a row, the Grandview Wolves girls basketball team wins the State Championship; GHS sophomore Sienna Betts named Gatorade Colorado Girls Basketball Player of the Year; and the Endeavor Academy boys basketball team takes top honors in the Gold Division at the All-City Urban League Championships!

Polton Elementary School celebrates 50 years of excellence
Happy 50th birthday to Polton Elementary School! Polton has a long, rich history of empowering its students and enriching our Cherry Creek community. The Polton Panthers celebrated their 50th anniversary on March 9th by inviting community members and alumni to come and admire all of the amazing improvements they have made over the past 50 years.

Chalkbeat Colorado: More children are grieving after the loss of a parent. Cherry Creek schools are piloting a program just for them.
Last year, the Cherry Creek School District began a pilot program with grief-care nonprofit Judi’s House in Aurora to host group therapy for elementary age students. The Cherry Creek Schools Foundation is funding the program.

Alumni in Action: Erik Peterson
Erik Peterson graduated from college in May of 2022. Six months later, he landed one of the leading roles in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. That might sound like overnight success, but it’s really the result of a lot of talent and a lifetime of hard work and dedication on the part of this 2018 graduate of Grandview High School.

Colorado Black Caucus of School Board Directors honors Jasper Armstrong
The Colorado Black Caucus of School Board Directors recently honored Jasper Armstrong for his outstanding contributions and dedication to CCSD and its students. Armstrong received the 2023 Education Champion Award and was nominated by Cherry Creek School Board Director Janice McDonald, who recognized Armstrong’s hard work and dedication to the students, staff, and community.
