CBS4: Cherry Creek High School junior takes on aerospace challenges, wins Colorado Future Leaders
CBS Colorado, along with Colorado School of Mines and Chevron, honors high school students who excel in science, technology, engineering, and math – STEM. The Future Leaders award comes with $1,000 and a profile on CBS News Colorado. The newest winner is Ersel Serdar, a junior at Cherry Creek High School. He's been working on space related projects for the last couple of years.

Head Chef Cady Frazier says bringing top quality food to the 35,000 kids in Cherry Creek Schools is a huge undertaking, but an important job. "We care about our kids and our kids deserve the best," said Frazier. "We are teaching them how to eat good food and also that they know that they deserve that good food."

At Cherry Creek School District, the mill levy increase cap would increase from 25% to 30%. However, Cherry Creek spokesperson Lauren Snell said that any mill levy override funding requires voter approval, a matter that the school board has also not taken up.

Lions, and tigers, and bears, along with a kinkajou and a Savannah monitor, are among the more unusual animals Dr. Lauren Minner has treated during her career in veterinary medicine. She loves what she does. “It’s one of those professions that gives back day after day, year after year,” she said.

Chalkbeat: CCSD expands PreK districtwide because it's "the right thing to do"
Cherry Creek spent $6 million to create or retrofit classrooms at 23 campuses for preschool this year. It will add preschool at the last elementary school by August. The district currently enrolls about 1,500 4-year-olds in preschool, and officials say most schools have room for more.
