Two members, Anne Egan and Angela Garland were re-elected to serve as District Directors for A and C, respectively. Garland and Egan were both first elected in 2019. Ruthie Knowles was elected a new member of the board and will represent District B.

“We are so fortunate in Cherry Creek Schools to have a board of education that is steadfastly committed to putting students at the core of every decision,” said Superintendent Christopher Smith. “Our board members are passionate advocates for students and I am grateful for their leadership in working to ensure we offer an excellent education to each and every students.”

Following the election, board members also selected new officers. Angela Garland will serve as President and Kristin Allan will serve as Vice President.

“I am honored to be re-elected to the Board of Education. My first term allowed me to gain a strong understanding of the needs of various schools and our varied learners,” said Garland. “I look forward to serving, listening and learning.  I will continue to work to ensure each and every student has access to opportunities provided to them as they find their Pathway of Purpose.”

Egan, a former education policy advisor and active member in CCSD organizations for many years, will continue her work on priorities such as mental health and physical safety, supporting teachers, and continuing to develop innovative career pathway opportunities for students.

“I’m honored and thankful for the confidence of the voters in our district. My family and friends have been a tremendous support over the last nine months. I look forward to continuing this important work for our students,” said Egan.

Knowles, a CCSD alumni of Eastridge, Prairie and Overland, noted her deep roots in the Overland community as she looks forward to her new role.

"I am proud and honored to be on the Cherry Creek Board of Education, and to be the Director of the district area where I grew up and moved back to raise my children. I approach this position with humility and in service to my community,” said Knowles.
