Cherry Creek Reads Because

Cherry Creek Reads Save the Date

The Cherry Creek School District is excited to announce that the featured book for Cherry Creek Reads week, coming up March 9-13, is Because, an inspirational book by Mo Willems, a New York Times bestselling author and illustrator. Because takes readers on a journey of self-discovery, with the realization of how one small event can change your life forever and make one wonder…. What’s my Because?

Enjoy this short video on the story behind the story of Because. Then get ready to read!

Cherry Creek Reads is a districtwide celebration of reading with the theme “Read Together, Change Lives Together.” Across the district, students, parents, teachers, staff, friends and family members are encouraged to read for 67 minutes or more during Cherry Creek Reads. That represents one minute for every Cherry Creek school. The goal is simple: to create a community of readers and foster a lifelong love of reading.

During Cherry Creek Reads, CCSD schools will hold a variety of special events, from guest readers to Skype sessions with noted authors and illustrators to family literacy nights. Parents are also encouraged to read with their children after school and have fun dinner table-discussions about the books each family member is reading.
