CCSD and STRIDE Community Health offer COVID-19 swab testing at district high schools
Collaboration is key to successfully navigating a crisis.
Since 2018, the Cherry Creek School District has partnered with STRIDE Community Health Center to offer important health resources to students, parents and staff alike. STRIDE, a metro area community provider, has worked directly with the district to coordinate immunization efforts across CCSD’s 108 square miles. Now, the district and STRIDE are ramping up their partnership to provide critical testing in the midst of the current COVID crisis.
In the coming months, STRIDE will offer free, drive-through COVID-19 swab testing for community members at several high schools across the district. Testing is available to any individual in need in the CCSD community that has experienced COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days.
According to CCSD Health Services Director Michelle Weinraub, this open testing is an important tool to address a crisis that’s evolving on a daily basis.
“It’s invaluable to have accurate data to inform our decisions and educate our community,” Weinraub said as she helped coordinate one of the first swab testing events held at Overland High School on May 8. “As we unite to face this crisis together, it’s invaluable to have access to accurate testing and to have such a committed healthcare partner in STRIDE.”
Weinraub added that the testing came as a result of quick action, innovative thinking and a strong partnership between CCSD and STRIDE.
“We reached out to each other and within a week and a half, we had come up with testing sites and dates,” Weinraub said. “It’s so critical to have a partner in the healthcare industry that’s committed to helping our community.”
She encouraged anyone who’s shown symptoms to take advantage of the testing.
“Having up-to-date, accurate information is so important,” she said. “This is a free resource, and it’s a useful tool in keeping our entire community safe and healthy.”
COVID swab testing will be available from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the following days and at the following locations:
May 12 and 13 – Smoky Hill High School, 16100 E Smoky Hill Road, Aurora.
