Cherry Creek Schools Foundation connecting families with Internet service

Help families connect to the Internet More than ever, access to technology and online resources is critical to the ability of every student in the Cherry Creek School District to achieve excellence.

The Cherry Creek Schools Foundation is committed to helping to connect every student in the district to online resources. Recently, the CCSF launched the “WiFi Heroes” campaign, a push designed to help all students stay connected to school and the opportunity to learn, no matter the circumstance.

“The district sent out a survey and identified almost 1,200 students that do not have access to high-speed Internet,” CCSF Executive Director Jill Henden said. “We are working with local companies to identify the most cost-effective solution and found that for approximately $200,000, we can help these students get what they need for their education.”

Students without consistent, quality Internet access are at greater risk of losing connection to their teachers, which puts them at greater risk for falling behind in school. Access to these resources has become even more important in recent months, as the global COVID pandemic has shifted how all students learn and access information. In the likely chance that CCSD students will have to move to Remote learning during the school year, Internet access will be critical for all families in order to support the district’s mission, “to inspire every student to think, to learn, to achieve, to care.”

“The CCSF is committed to working hand-in-hand with the district to help our students adjust to the demands of the current moment,” Henden said. “We want to ensure that every one of our students can succeed, whether it be in-person or remotely.”

Members of the community are encouraged to make donations to the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation. All donations are tax-deductible and will be restricted to the Cherry Creek Schools Emergency Relief Fund to support critical needs like internet access.
