The week that was: A weekly wrap-up of CCSD athletics
Basketball – Week highlighted by thrill at Smoky Hill
CCSD boys basketball teams battled hard amongst themselves last week. No. 1 Cherry Creek continued its perfect season going 2-0 with wins over Eaglecrest and Arapahoe. No. 9 Overland went 1-1 to maintain third place in the Centennial League. But the game of the week was a wild 80-76 Eaglecrest overtime win over host Smoky Hill. The first meeting between these two clubs was cancelled due to the pandemic, but was more than made up for last Friday night. The Raptors had a nine-point run in the last minute to tie the very tough Buffaloes, and then won the contest in overtime.
