Today we stand with the Boulder community and mourn the loss of 10 lives destroyed by gun violence, 10 people who woke up yesterday to a beautiful snowy Colorado morning not knowing it would be their last. Today we struggle to answer our children’s questions and allay their fears about why mass shootings happen in America, just one week out from a mass shooting in Atlanta killed eight people, including six Asian Americans.
While we mourn the loss of all innocent lives, let me be clear that Cherry Creek stands for inclusivity and we will not tolerate words or acts of hate that target Asian Americans or any other community.
Our hearts and thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims of these horrific acts of violence. We also extend our gratitude to the law enforcement officers who responded swiftly to this deadly attack, and our deepest condolences to the Boulder Police Department for death of one of your own officers.
