All Star Honoree: Diana Baumann

Diana Baumann Diana Baumann has made a year of unprecedented challenges a little easier to bear for students and staff alike at Thunder Ridge Middle School.

As a counseling assistant at the school, Baumann has seen firsthand how a year marked by quarantine, Remote learning and other hurdles tied to the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the Thunder Ridge community. She has taken her role in the school’s counseling department seriously, doing her best to serve as a source of inspiration, comfort and encouragement for everyone she meets.

Baumann has tackled staffing changes and increased duties with grace and enthusiasm, playing a key role in tasks ranging from registering thousands of students to ensuring that the school’s suicide prevention and mental health programs are available and functioning for all who need them. Her contributions to the Thunder Ridge community go far beyond her impressive work as an office organizer and all-around dynamo. She knows that her job is rooted in firsthand interactions with people; Baumann’s most important work comes in her everyday interactions with those who visit the TRMS counseling office.

“She always takes time out of her day to help any student in distress and does so with grace, understanding and kindness,” one of Baumann’s colleagues wrote. “It is impressive how many families and how many students she knows by name and face, how she knows all of their stories. She is a wonderful advocate for all them.”

Every day, Baumann shows that rare combination of professional know-how and boundless empathy. These qualities have made her an integral part of Thunder Ridge’s perseverance through a difficult year, and they make one of the Cherry Creek School District’s most valued All-Stars!
