CCSD Transportation team is tops at Road-E-O

CCSD Road-e-o winnersCCSD Transportation team at Road-e-oCongratulations to members the Cherry Creek Schools Transportation department, who won both individual and team honors in the Regional Pikes Peak Bus Road-E-O and Technician Competition, held May 1 in Colorado Springs.

The event, which was sponsored by Academy District 20, gave school transportation professionals from along the Front Range the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in three categories:

  • Conventional – which consisted of a written test, pre-trip evaluation, driving skills test and an emergency scenario evaluation
  • Special Needs – which consisted of a written test for both the bus driver and the paraprofessional, a pre-trip evaluation, a lift and securement evaluation, driving skills test and emergency scenario evaluation
  • Technician – which consisted of a written test, inspection station and mechanical station

CCSD bus drivers James Buchanan and Wanda VanZonneveld earned first and second place respectively in the Conventional category. The CCSD team won the overall team award for scoring the most points in the competition.

During a typical school year, CCSD Transportation professionals drive more than 15,000 miles per day, safely transporting more than 22,000 students to and from school.

The CCSD Transportation team will compete in the Colorado State Road-E-O on June 15 in Pueblo.
