The week that was: A weekly wrap-up of CCSD athletics

CCHS Baseball Coach Marc Johnson and teamBaseball – CCHS coach Marc Johnson gets huge milestone

Cherry Creek High School head baseball coach Marc Johnson reached a major career milestone last week. The Bruins’ skipper tied the Colorado record for high school wins held by Eaton High School legend Jim Danley. Johnson tied the record of 807 wins with Creek’s 8-1 victory over Mullen on May 8.

“I’m obviously very pleased and I’m more pleased that my team came out ready to play hard and had a great game,” Johnson said. “It’s always about trying to help kids become better, develop character and have guys that are going to be great people in society. We’re just trying to be better baseball players while we go for that goal,” he added.

Coach Johnson is in his 49th season at CCHS and said he’s had lots of support.

“This couldn’t have been done without all the other people, including families, the kids, the coaching staff, the school and the administration. Everyone has been a part of it,” he said.

Coach Johnson and his team will attempt to break the record with win 808 in the coming days.

Congratulations to Coach Johnson and the Cherry Creek High School baseball program on a truly remarkable achievement.
