Building Forward: Turf installation in progress at CCHS and CTHS
This time, the grass IS greener on the other side!
The installation of new turf at both Cherry Creek and Cherokee Trail High Schools has been progressing even in the face of spring snowstorms. Thanks to the generosity of CCSD voters, the new turf will allow our athletics programs to use the fields safely even during winter and early spring’s weather fluctuations. The turf should last approximately ten years before it will need replacing, meaning almost 100,000 hours of practice, games and celebrations for our district.
Athletics programs in CCSD use both natural and synthetic grass fields, which allows more availability for students to pursue their passions. By keeping the natural grass free during snow and rain, we protect our natural environment and reduce needs while still creating opportunities for students. Both synthetic fields and natural grass fields come with benefits and challenges; by having both, CCSD students can experience the best of both worlds.
