Boys Swimming & Diving – CCHS dominates All-state team selections
The 5A Boys State Champion Cherry Creek Bruins Swimming & Diving team represented the district well as All-state teams were announced on July 6. CHSAANOW.com, ColoradoPreps.com and MaxPreps made the selections based on state meet results from June 24.
Bruins Head Coach Chris Loftis was named Swim Coach of the Year, and several Bruins student-athletes were awarded first and second team honors.
First Team:
Henry Batson, senior, Cherry Creek - 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay;
Will Dravenstott, senior, Cherry Creek - 200 Medley Relay;
Conrad Eck, junior, Cherry Creek – 1 Meter Diving;
Blake Jorgens, senior, Cherry Creek - 200 Free Relay;
Cade Martin, junior, Cherry Creek - 200 Medley Relay;
Bryce Ortanes, senior, Cherry Creek - 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay;
Nikolas Silolahti, senior, Cherry Creek - 200 Free Relay.

Caleb Liban, junior, Cherry Creek – 1 Meter Diving

Boys Lacrosse – All-state teams announced
Boys lacrosse players from across the district were honored on July 7 as All-state teams were announced by the Colorado High School Boys Lacrosse Coaches Association (CHSLCA):
First Team:
Dakota Johnson, senior, Cherry Creek – Attack;
John Alie, junior, Grandview – Attack;
Carter Korzenski, senior, Cherry Creek – Midfield;
Kayce Kline, senior, Cherry Creek – Defense;
Alex Fredrich, sophomore, Cherry Creek – F/O Midfield.
Second Team:
Noah Wehrman, senior, Grandview – Midfield;
Brayden Legette, senior, Eaglecrest – Midfield;
Jack Kiefer, sophomore, Cherry Creek – Defense;
Will Stewart, sophomore, Cherry Creek – Goalie;
Jack Moxcey, sophomore, Cherry Creek – Def. Midfield.
Honorable Mention:
Evan Gibbs, junior, Cherokee Trail – Midfield;

Girls and Boys Track & Field – CCSD well represented in All-state honors
5A Girls and Boys Track & Field student athletes were named to All-state teams on July 8 and 9. Selections were compiled by CHSAANow.com, ColoradoPreps.com and MaxPreps.
For the girls, Cherry Creek Junior Riley Stewart was named Athlete of the Year. Stewart had a stellar state meet where she earned four championships. The Grandview girls team took second in state and Creek took third.

On the boys side, Cherry Creek Junior Ky Oday was named athlete of the year, and Grandview Head Coach John Reyes was given Coach of the Year honors, as the Wolves boys squad took home the state championship trophy, while the Bruins took third in state.

GHS two-sport student athlete gets prestigious Colorado award
2021 Grandview graduate Addison O’Grady is the 2021 Freddie Steinmark Award winner, announced by the Colorado High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) earlier this week. The award is given to the “best of the best of Colorado High School multiple sport athletes who excel in their sports, their school and their community.”
The Wolves standout basketball and volleyball player had four Final Four appearances and a state title in 2018 for the Wolves basketball team and three state volleyball tournament berths. O’Grady will play basketball at the University of Iowa.
