The week that was: A wrap-up of CCSD Athletics for the week of June 6
5A Girls Soccer: Grandview’s Naomi Clark named Player of the Year
Grandview High School junior Naomi Clark was named the 2022 5A Girls Soccer Player of the Year by the Colorado High School Soccer Association. Clark was instrumental in the Wolves winning its sixth state championship in program history on May 25. Clark had a second-half hat trick which accounted for all the Wolves’ scoring in the 3-1 win over defending champion Broomfield. The forward scored 20 goals on the season including seven of the 11 tallies for Grandview in five state tournament matches.
Grandview Head Coach Brian Wood was also named Coach of the Year by CHSSA. Wood also coached the Grandview boys team to a state championship in November of 2021.
In addition, the following players received All-state honors.

5A Track and Field – District skippers named Coaches of the Year
Cherry Creek’s Delisa McDavid and Grandview’s John Reyes were named 2022 Girls and Boys Track and Field Coaches of the Year on June 11 as part of the 5A All-state teams compiled by CHSSANow.com, ColoradoPreps.com and MaxPreps. McDavid led the Bruins to a state championship on the girls’ side, and Reyes did the same for the Grandview boys. Cherokee Trail took runners-up trophies for both girls and boys in 2022.
CCSD student athletes made up at least half the honorees on both the 5A All-state teams after an extraordinarily successful season.

The All-state boys volleyball teams for the 2022 season were announced on June 8. The lists were compiled from nominations from area leagues and votes from coaches. CCSD programs were well-represented among the honorees.

The All-state Girls Golf teams for the 2022 season were announced on June 10. Rosters were compiled based on results of the 2022 State Championships held on May 31-June 1 in Loveland.
