Grandview feeder area comes together for donation drive

students and parent filling a donation pinFox Hollow Elementary recently hosted a Donation Drive event and invited families to drop off items as part of the larger efforts to collect snack and hygiene items for district food pantries. Participating schools in the Grandview feeder area have been gathering items to show their support for our community while recognizing the parent volunteer group Parents’ Council.

“We are all about community at Fox Hollow,” Principal Ashley Gray shared. “Our school value this year is ‘connecting,’ and it is a beautiful feeling to show our students what great things can happen when we all work together.”

Fox Hollow previously launched a robust program to support food pantries where each student high five assistant principal class at the school takes turns making food pantry bags with 14-16 items per family. Gray shared that this helps create community as well as instill a sense of responsibility.

“We go to the cafeteria with all the food lined up,” explained fifth-grader Grayson Olmstead. “We get a partner and they hold the bag and we grab one of every kind of food item and put it in the bag.”

Donations can continue to be collected this September in the Grandview feeder schools. In October, Eaglecrest High School and its feeders will begin collecting items with Cherry Creek High School and its feeders taking the lead in November.
