CCHS girls swim & dive team5A Girls Swim and Dive: Centennial League Championships

Student athletes from across the district braved tough weather conditions last weekend to participate in the Centennial A League Championships held at Arapahoe High School in Centennial. Preliminary events were held Friday, and finals took place on a very snowy Saturday.

Cherry Creek took home team honors yet again, besting Arapahoe and Cherokee Trail. Grandview took fourth, Smoky Hill was fifth, Eaglecrest sixth, and Overland eighth in overall team standings.

“The other teams really brought their A game for this meet, which is really super fun,” said Bruins third-year Head Coach Karin Olmsted. “I love that our league is super competitive. Iron sharpens iron. It sharpens our swimmers, that’s for sure.”

Coach Olmsted says good things are ahead for Creek.

“We have a young team. We have a lot of new freshmen, and it was fun to see them step up, learn what it means to be on a high school team as opposed to a club team,” she said. “This was good. We’re going to be really ready to rock (at the 5A State Championships) next week.”
