CCSD Athletics: Highlights from the week of April 8, 2024
5A Boys Volleyball: Centennial stays strong
Cherry Creek School District boys’ volleyball clubs continued their solid play last week. Cherokee Trail, Eaglecrest, and Grandview all had winning records the week of April 8. CT (12-3 overall, 4-1 in the Centennial League) went 4-2 last week. The Cougars will have a big game against Grandview on April 16. Grandview (12-4, 4-1) was 4-0 this past week. The Wolves next have that big match-up with Cherokee Trail on Tuesday. Eaglecrest improved to 13-3 overall (3-2 in the Centennial League), going 3-1 for the week. The Raptors will host Valor Christian at the Nest on April 16. Cherry Creek (4-13, 2-3) was 1-2 last week. Up next, the Bruins host Littleton Public Schools on April 16. And Overland (4-11, 1-4 in the Centennial League) was winless for the week. The Blazers will try and get back on the winning track at Douglas County on April 15.
5A Girls Soccer: Cherry Creek and Grandview lead the way
The Cherry Creek Bruins and Grandview Wolves girls’ soccer teams both went 2-0 last week. The Bruins (9-0-1 overall, 3-0-1 in the 5A/4A Centennial) got conference wins over Overland and Eaglecrest. Creek will have a Centennial League showdown with the Wolves on April 16. The Grandview club got two league wins over Mullen and Overland and has a big game with Cherry Creek on Tuesday. Cherokee Trail was 1-1 last week, and sports a 3-5-1 record overall, but is 2-1-1 in the Centennial League. The Cougars will host Mullen on April 16. Eaglecrest fell to 7-3 last week and is 2-2 in league play. The Raptors are at Arapahoe on Tuesday. Smoky Hill and Overland continue to be winless in conference play. Overland (2-7-2. 0-4) will try and get back into the win column against Smoky on April 16. The Buffs (2-8, 0-4) will try and right the ship, taking on the Blazers on Tuesday.
