Congratulations to the Cherry Creek Schools Class of 2024!

EHS graduation“The future is in very good hands with young people like you leading the way.”

Those words from Cherry Creek High School Principal Ryan Silva during his address at the CCHS commencement ceremony on May 22, sum up the promise and potential in the Cherry Creek Schools Class of 2024. More than 4,100 seniors graduated from the Cherry Creek School District’s eight high schools on May 22-24.

Among the graduates are one Boettcher Scholar, four Questbridge Scholars, nine military academy appointees, 12 Daniels Fund Scholars, 26 athletic scholarship recipients, 44 National Merit finalists, and 918 Advanced Placement Scholars. What’s more, the Class of 2024 has earned nearly $50 million in scholarships to colleges and universities, community colleges, and trade and vocational schools across the country.

“You will become the scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, and leaders who shape our future. You ensure our progress,” said Eaglecrest High School Principal Gwen Hansen-Vigil during the EHS commencement ceremony on May 23.

Elevation GraduationThe members of the Class of 2024 are well-prepared to face the future and whatever challenges it may bring. They have already overcome unusual and significant obstacles, as they began their high school careers during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Remote learning, social distancing, and the absence of many traditional high school activities were the norms during their freshman year. However, the Class of 2024 adapted and persevered.

“Despite the trials and tribulations you’ve had to endure, you’re here,” said Smoky Hill High School Principal Andre Bala during the Buffaloes commencement ceremony on May 24. “That’s why this class deserves to be honored like no other class.”

And honored they were, at meaningful celebrations for indigenous graduates and graduates who are joining the military, and at traditional commencement ceremonies for the district’s six comprehensive high schools, as well as Cherry Creek Elevation, the district’s blended online school, and Endeavor Academy, the district’s alternative high school. Powerful student speakers and passionate performers shared poetry, memories, music, and good wishes for their classmates.

SHHS Graduation“Here’s to you, to us, to a future without limits!” said Endeavor Academy senior Camilla Cardenas.

Family and friends packed the graduation ceremonies, clutching bouquets of flowers, snapping photos, and recording videos of their graduates receiving their diplomas from CCSD Board of Education members. Those who couldn’t attend the ceremonies in person, watched via livestream.
