Creek was led by junior quarterback Brady Vodicka who rushed for four touchdowns and threw for another in the win. Next, Cherry Creek travels to Dallas, Texas for a clash with the Highland Park Scots at 6 p.m. Central Daylight Time / 7 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time on Sept. 20.

Grandview was also in action last Thursday, trying to get into the win column after two close, tough losses. The Wolves travelled to North Stadium in Westminster to take on Legacy. The Wolves took a 14-7 halftime lead on scores by senior runner Caleb Llamas and junior Blitz McCarty’s touchdown pass to senior Xay Neto. But Legacy outscored Grandview 27-13 in the final quarter to come away with a 34-27 win. The Wolves (0-3) will try to get their first win at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20 on the road against Rock Canyon at EchoPark Stadium in Parker.

Last Friday’s schedule started at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood, as 2-0 Eaglecrest faced 2-0 Chatfield for an afternoon contest. The Raptors suffered their first loss of the season to the Chargers. The final score was 23-16. Senior quarterback Joe Steiner ran for a score, and threw for a touchdown to senior Logan Robataille in the loss. Up next, the Raptors (2-1) will host Denver East (3-0) at 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 at Legacy Stadium.

Cherokee Trail had a huge Homecoming crowd at Legacy last Friday as they took on Mountain Vista. The Cougars were coming off their first win of the season at ThunderRidge on Sept. 6, but the Golden Eagles dominated and defeated CT 42-0. After a scoreless first quarter, Vista exploded for four touchdowns in the second, leading 28-0 going to the break. Cherokee Trail could not get anything going offensively against a very stout Eagle defense. Next, CT (1-2) hosts Rocky Mountain (2-1) at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20 at Legacy Stadium.

Smoky Hill also had Homecoming last Friday, but stayed winless, falling to Arvada West 43-0 at the Stutler Bowl. Buffalo miscues and a tough Wildcat defense contributed to the shutout loss. Smoky (0-3) will try and right the ship with an A-Town matchup with Rangeview at 7 p.m. Friday night at Aurora Public Schools Stadium.

The 1-2 Overland Trailblazers rounded out the weekend with a Saturday afternoon contest against Fountain-Fort Carson at the Stutler Bowl. The ‘Blazers managed to tie the game at 14 by halftime, but the Trojans outscored Overland 20-0 in the second half for a 34-14 loss. ‘Blazers junior quarterback Matthew Jimenez-Solis rushed for a touchdown, and senior Isaiah Zachery got a pick-6 for a TD to complete the Trailblazer scoring.
