Greenwood Elementary welcomes Blackhawk helicopter for Red Ribbon Week

5th grade class in front of helicopterA Blackhawk helicopter made a pitstop on a field outside of Greenwood Elementary School on Wednesday morning for Red Ribbon Week. The Colorado National Guard and the Drug Enforcement Administration taught the students about the importance of being happy and drug free.

Red Ribbon Week takes place each year from October 23-31st. The Red Ribbon Campaign is the largest drug-abuse prevention campaign in the United States. The entire school took a pledge to live a drug-free life. Every student received a bracelet and a red ribbon. The red ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.

The Blackhawk helicopter visit highlighted the importance of whole wellbeing and building strong relationships with our military, fostering connections that inspire and support our students. This visit was one of many that the National Guard and the Drug Enforcement Administration did throughout the month of October. During Red Ribbon Week, they will visit 14 schools in Colorado.
