CCSD Athletics: Highlights from the week of Nov. 4, 2024
District Athletics: Weather impacts sports schedules
Colorado’s unpredictable weather played a big part in district athletics last week. Playoff schedules and venues in several sports were impacted by an historic snowstorm. Some football and soccer games were moved to Sunday, Nov. 10, and field hockey finals were moved to Monday, Nov. 11.
5A Girls State Gymnastics: Overland takes second overall
The Overland High School gymnastics team took home the runner-up trophy for the second year in a row, beating Broomfield outright, after tying with the Eagles last year. Mountain Range won the state title and Cherry Creek High School finished ninth.
Individually, Overland team member and Grandview junior Ainsley Renner placed fourth in the all-around competition. Cherry Creek’s Lauren Becker was ninth.
Renner placed third in vault, 15th in uneven bars, 7th (tie) in balance beam, and 6th (tie) in floor exercise.
Congratulations to all district gymnasts!
