Summer Updates and Information - updated 7/10/25
Liberty Community:
Welcome to the 2024-25 School Year. In the next few weeks we look to return to the excitement and nervousness of a new school year. Through the challenges, successes, and joys we have experienced at Liberty I continue to be humbled by the consistent support, kindness, and resiliency of our entire community. I am honored to begin my 13th year at Liberty and my ninth as its principal.
I hope that this summer you and your families have taken time to relax, recharge, and grow as a family and a community. Over the past year we have embraced various challenges and enjoyed wonderful successes. This new school year will give us another opportunity to demonstrate a growth mindset as one community for the benefit of all students. The staff at Liberty continues to embrace this core value and summer has allowed for all to recharged and prepare to meet the challenges that lay ahead.
Whether this is your first year of middle school, you are new to our community, or if Liberty continues to be your home, this year will be filled with excitement, changes, and challenges that we will face as one community. The good news is we always have been, and will continue to be, in this together, standing strong in our Cherry Creek School District Values of Growth Mindset, Equity, Engagement, Whole Wellbeing, and Relationships.
I know that you continue to put your trust in Liberty and the Cherry Creek School District, and I do not take that trust for granted. As with every year, both you and your children are coming to us with much excitement and maybe some nerves too. We continue to learn, grow, and adapt as a school and as a community. Yet with so much at stake, rest assured that there is no other profession I would rather be in and no other place I would rather do this work than here with all of you at Liberty Middle School. Be certain, our school goal remains unchanged; to be focused on your student’s success every day. To do this we must continue to partner together, listen to each other, have empathy and care for each other, and ultimately continue to build a school where all children feel valued and demonstrate success.
I look forward to this year and our work together. It takes a partnership to ensure success, and I am looking forward to partnering with you in this work.
Sincerely,
Kevin Doherty
Principal

ALL new and returning students must have Parent Forms completed prior to the start of school. If you have more than one child in Cherry Creek Schools, please complete the process for each of your children.
6th Grade Student Orientation: Our 6th Grade Student Orientation will take place during the morning of August 13. This experience is designed to assist incoming 6th graders with their transition to middle school and will be a great opportunity for students to engage in some fun activities, meet new friends, and learn from 8th Grade WEB Leaders. Students should arrive by 8:40 AM and will be dismissed at 3:45 PM. School buses will be available for students who normally ride the bus during the school year. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle, writing utensil, notebook, and a copy of their class schedule (if they have a phone, a screen shot is ok) and to dress comfortably as the day will be active. For questions, please contact the Main Office at 720-886-2415
Transportation: If you need to find information regarding bus transportation, including eligibility, My Ride K-12 is the system used for Cherry Creek Schools. If your child is eligible to ride their route information will be available through the My Ride K12 app after August 1st. The system is used to determine bus stop locations, pick-up/drop-off times, and allows parents to see in real time when students have boarded and exited the bus on the way to or from school. Students are issued an ID card that must be scanned each time they get on the bus. If your student loses his/her ID card, visit the CCSD transportation webpage for replacement information. Click here to access CCSD Transportation.
Activity buses will start on Thursday, August 15, and will be available Monday through Thursday throughout the school year. Activity buses depart Liberty at 4:45 PM and are available only to students who are eligible for daily bus transportation and are staying after school to participate in clubs, athletics, or other enrichment activities.
School Supplies & Lockers: Students are asked to carry their computers and classroom supplies in a backpack. As a result, we have reviewed the school supply list carefully and eliminated many items. Please click here view the Liberty Middle School supply list.
Lockers at Liberty are assigned to every student and will be distributed after the second week of school through Advisory classes. All students much purchase a Liberty issued lock which will be available on our website, in-person at back-to-school night, or at our security desk during school hours. The cost of a new lock is $10 and online purchasing is preferred.

Breakfast & Lunch Information
Student school breakfast and/or lunch is available in the Liberty Cafeteria daily. Students can also bring home lunch if they choose. Following the passage of the Colorado ballot initiative, Healthy School Meals for All, in November of 2022, all Liberty students will be eligible for free breakfast and lunch. These meals do not include items from the snack bar which will continue to be available for purchase.
Students who meet the eligibility guidelines for the Federal Free & Reduced Meal plan are encouraged to still submit the application regardless of the new Colorado food program. Those families who qualify receive benefits beyond meal plans such as discounts on athletic and activity fees, graduation fees, and other school related expenses. Those eligible students will continue to receive benefits only after submitting the appropriate application paperwork. One completed application per household is required (all students in the household can be included on the application). A new application must be completed each school year and can be accessed in one of the following ways:
- The CCSD Food and Nutrition Services is busy working on a new on-line payment and application system. All account balances have been saved and will be transferred to your new account automatically. Please visit Food & Nutrition later in July for instructions on accessing our new system! If you have any questions, please call the meal program manager at 720-886-7172 or visit in person at the Student Nutrition Center (14270 E. Briarwood Ave, Centennial, CO 80112). Additional program information is available here.
- Paper Application: Paper applications are available at every school or at the Student Nutrition Center. Paper applications are available in English and Spanish.
