CCSD computer care tips

  • Find a place to store the computer plugged in. During the school year, we recommend a place right next to where the student keeps their backpack so they don’t forget it in the morning.

  • Do not stack things on top of the computer.

  • Keep the computer powered on but logged out. This will ensure that updates can be pushed to the computer automatically.

  • Restart the computer frequently, logging in and letting things load. It is recommended to do this every day during the school year. Once a week during the summer or other breaks is helpful.

  • DO NOT PUT STICKERS ANYWHERE ON THE COMPUTER. The only exception is the sticker provided by the school with the student’s name.

  • Do not remove the CCSD asset tag attached to the device. This helps expedite returning a lost computer to the student.

  • Update Chrome occasionally (checking 1x/week is a great idea)

To update Google Chrome:

  • On your computer, open Chrome.

  • At the top right, click More More.

  • Click Help and then About Google Chrome.

  • Click Update Google Chrome.

  • Important: If you can't find this button, you're on the latest version.

  • Click Relaunch.

  • If a computer is not working correctly, students can ask for a pass to the Library and we can help.
