CCIC Offers Computer Controlled Machining Course

Course Information

The CNC Machining class offered at the CCIC is a foundational course for students who plan to pursue an engineering degree from a college/university or who plan to enter the workforce as a machinist or other manufacturing professional.

This special summer session targets two kinds of students: students who have limited openings in their schedules and students who may be preparing for an engineering degree.

Packed Schedule students

As a 30-year pre-engineering teacher in CCSD, I understand firsthand how tight high performing students schedules can be.  This is an opportunity to take a relevant and unique course that will broaden the horizons of students from across the district.

Engineering students

This class is also for the students who would like to get firsthand experience on the Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) equipment they are likely to encounter when they attend a university or college while pursuing a degree in engineering or a technically related degree.  The course will provide an education that is rare for incoming freshmen engineering students.

Course Content

The CNC Machining course provides opportunities for students to work with various industry related equipment and to learn about relevant manufacturing processes.  The class is a hands-on course allowing students to use new equipment and tools seen in machining facilities around the country. There are no pre-requisite courses; however, students must currently be either a sophomore or junior.
