Students Excel at Art and Writing Competition
Please congratulate the following students on their success in the Colorado Scholastics Art And Writing Competition.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative middle and high school students.
Over 5,000 pieces of art were submitted this year to the Colorado chapters competition, and less than 5% of the students' works are selected to receive a Gold Key Award.
Of that five percent, six of our students achieved a Gold Key Award.
Ahmed Abdi
Lily Baca
Jackson Booker
David Pryce Jr
Walter Sanchez Junior
Anna Zabarauskas
Additionally, both Kincy Mceady and Suriah Caraveo received Honorable Mentions (top 8% of all submissions.)
These awards are given based upon the artists originality, technical skills, and their emergence of personal voice or vision. By earning this award you are joining the likes of Andy Warhol, Charles White, and Richard Avedon, who also received Gold Key Awards while in their youth.
Scholastic award recipients work will be on display in the Denver Art Museum, the Colorado History Center, and The Chancery Art Space in Denver from February 14th until March 29th. For additional details and specifics as to which building each work will be displayed in please visit 2022 Exhibitions | Colorado Art Awards These students works will also be forwarded on to the National Art and Writing Competition, which will announce its results in early February.
