FCCLA Shines at Competition
I wanted to take a minute and brag about some of our kiddos!
First, I want to celebrate our FCCLA Chapter! This summer we took 5 kids to Nationals! Trinity Che in Fashion Construction and Carter Steine in Teach or Train, both competed and got Silver! We also had Aaisha Eisa and Fatimah Al Shammari representing the Colorado FCCLA State Officer Team for the 2023-2024 School Year! If you have or see these kiddos, make sure you give them a High Five for being awesome and representing Overland at the National Level.
I also want to celebrate a couple of my fashion club students. About 3 weeks ago, I was approached by the CNA teacher from CCIC, Elerie Archer, about a fashion show for the 50th Anniversary of the Colorado Association for Black Nurses, called Project Nurse. This was a short turn around, but I wanted to give my fashion students the opportunity to create and participate. There was also a Scholarship Involved! Lorenzo Barrientos and Lina Ho took on the challenge and created nurse-inspired looks from the past or what they envisioned for the future. Lorenzo was inspired by the 70s and 80s, while Lina created a look for the future! Cloud Saydee and Jelane Elamo modeling their designs! I have attached some photos of their designs! And to top it all off, Lina received 1st place - $500 scholarship, and Lorenzo 2nd Place - $250. It was such a good time, and awesome to see our kiddos shine especially when they only had a couple weeks to do it!
Thanks,
Arielle Bergmann
